SHAPE 68 To Play NAMM Convention
December 21, 2002SHAPE 68, a new pop-oriented project featuring Glenn Hughes (DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH) on bass/vocals, Jeff Kollman (MOGG/WAY, EDWIN DARE) on guitar, and Robin DiMaggio on drums, will perform at the NAMM convention as part of the Sabian show on Friday, Jan. 17, 2003. Also performing will be TOWER OF POWER and EARTH WIND AND FIRE. In related news, HUGHES TURNER PROJECT (HTP),the collaboration between former Hughes and ex-RAINBOW/DEEP PURPLE singer Joe Lynn Turner, will begin recording their next album next April for a Fall 2003 release. In the meantime, Hughes will continue laying down tracks for his solo album, while Turner will enter the studio to prepare his next solo release in January 2003.
"I have started work on the new rock GH album since last week," Hughes wrote via his official web site on the subject of his upcoming solo album. "[Guitarist] JJ [a.k.a. Joakim Marsh] has been here since Dec. 1 and will leave on the 23rd, so we will be working on the record up until that date. I will take Christmas and New Year's off, and then resume work again in January. The album should be released in May or June of 2003 by Pony Canyon in Japan and Frontiers in Europe."
